Be Ready When Luck Happens by Ina Garten
I started off the year by getting excited about all of the hosting I want to do in 2025, so what better book to begin the year with than Ina Garten’s memoir. Her childhood and upbringing in the 50’s and 60’s was very interesting and offered a nice glimpse into how far the feminists movements have come (even if we haven’t come nearly far enough).
Onyx Storm
The anticipated next book in the Iron Flame stories – I probably should have reread the first two before this as I went right into the Court of Thorns and Roses series after the first two last year and being of similar genres the details got a bit muddled at first. But I did remember as I kept reading.
The Marriage Portrait
I loved everything about this book – and have been on the hunt for similar reads since (so if you know of any let a girl know).
Remarkably Bright Creatures
A very endearing and heartwarming book that intertwines the stories of a man from California, a pacific octopus in an aquarium, and a little old lady in a small town on the Puget Sound.
Hamnet
Again, Maggie O’Farrell is one of my favorites. She writes a novel about the story of Hamlet.
Happy Place
Tell Me More
The Winter Garden
My Life on the Road
In April I went to the Cherry Bombe Jubilee in NYC and Gloria Steinem was the keynote speaker for the event. So in preparation I read her latest book, My Life on the Road. It was an interesting look into what life as a political organizer looked like.
The Anxious Generation
Albeit a bit depressing to read, I enjoyed the overall idea that kids need to be allowed more independence and freedom in the real world, but more supervision in the digital world.
The Feminist Killjoy Handbook
Year of the Monkey
Didn’t make me clutch the book to my chest the same way Just Kids did, but ultimately I’ll love any
Sandwich
An easy summer read that I enjoyed.
Nightbitch
This might be my favorite book I read all year.
The God of the Woods
A perfect end of summer read. Murder mysteries are always page turners for me so I flew through this one.
The Mother Artist
Sophie Treppenfahl is a fellow artist that I follow and admire, both for her work and her voice that she uses to speak out against the current administration. She organized a bookclub to read this book and have a couple of zoom calls to discuss and also meet with the author, Catharine Ricketts.
Here One Moment
Always a fan of Liane Moriarty, this one was excellent yet again. It’s a story of an airplane full of people that are all confronted by a who tells them their age and cause of death.
Such a Fun Age
I really enjoyed this book. It followed a twenty something
Crying in H Mart
I adored this memoir. Michelle Zauner is the front of the band Japanese Breakfast and her memoir shares her story of
The Midnight Feast
Lucy Foley is another author whose books are always very enjoyable to me. This was the perfect spooky murder mystery novel to read leading up to Halloween.
The Women
I am I am Iam
Another Maggie O’Farrell read that I enjoyed, this novel was more of a piece meal of a woman’s life.
